The name Thostrup is one of the more common in my family chart, app. 80 individuals.
I will mention only a few.
The name Thostrup was introduced by Niels Sørensen, born 1788 in the village Vinkel near Viborg, as son of the married couple Søren Eriksen (1749-1805) m. 1780 to Dorthe Madsdatter Skaun (1757-1799).

At the age of 3, Niels Sørensen was fostered out to his uncle, Niels Nielsen Thostrup, who was married to Niels Sørensens fathers sister, Ane Marie Eriksdatter. As a consequence, Niels Sørensen took the byname Thostrup, and was now named Niels Sørensen Thostrup.

In 1813 he married Ane Kirstine Ballund (1794-1845).
In spite of Ane Kirstines age of only 51 years when she died, they managed to have 10 children - which is one reason for the many individuals with that name in the chart.

Niels' and Anes youngest child - Niels Christian Thostrup (1837-1910) married Marie Elisabeth Bendix (1853-1901).
She was the daughter of Søren Lauge Chr. Bendix (1815-1899) and Dorthea Christine Neuhausen (??-1874).
